God Walks With You

A small feather in a hand outside
A gentle reminder of faith, as a small feather rests in my outstretched hand under the words "God Walks With You" on July 31st, 2025.

I didn't get much sleep last night. No matter how long I laid, or how deeply I tried to sink my mind in an abyss of nothingness, the blanket of slumber never found me.

And fatigue seems to echo that same resistance. I got up and did my morning routine. But somewhere between the rinse and steam, a thief crept in and stole my joy. I’ll call it monotony.

The days are becoming like twins — nearly identical with few differences — and I'm starting to lose track of which is which. My mind plays games on itself to find adventure in even the smallest things, but even that game becomes a prison.

I needed a moment.

So, I decided to go for a walk.

Once I stepped out the door, the sun welcomingly kissed my skin. I found comfort. A brief escape from the sameness. And then a familiar voice spoke to me. One that sounded like my own but I knew it wasn't.

It said, "God Walks With You."

I kept walking.

Then this feather — so small but hard to miss - lightly trickled down in front of me. I opened the palm of my hand, and there it landed like it had been waiting.

"God Walks With You." The voice said again.

Joy, freedom, and happiness are things that have become distant strangers to me now. My only friend is struggle, and my comfort is turmoil.

The path I've walked was once paved yellow - bright, full of promise — but now it's become worn, brittle, and chipped.

I know why God walks with me. I know why I received that message.

I'm just praying for the strength... to continue to walk with God.
